Every day my e-mail box is flooded with e-mails from readers of the blog begging me to give them advice on so-and-so's swingers party or club or to tell them where they can find the hottest swingers party in NYC. Well, readers, if you haven't read it in my prior posts, I will say it again, I cannot recommend the fake, shady, illegal and dingy swinger parties that exist in NYC to even my worst enemies. Additionally, as you may have read about in my party reviews, if I had found even a half-decent swing scene anywhere in the area, there would be no need for Behind Closed Doors parties. If you want to attend a decent swinger party outside NYC, you can check out the clubs Paris, Montreal, Southern Florida or Atlanta as I have reviewed in this very blog. In these areas, you may find real couples and/or singles and you may be lucky enough to find someone to hook up with. Of course, the vast majority of the guests at these clubs will be older and many will be unattractive. But that's par for the course, you have to sift through the nasties to find the gems. That what makes BCD and XXXtreme so wonderful, I do the work for you and only invite attractive guests with whom you'd want to engage.

There is no doubt that people have tried to create confusion when it comes to all of School of Sex's parties and will continue to do so. A newbie couple, "Mo and Sue" attended one of the Behind Closed Doors parties hosted a few months back. Mo and Sue really popped their swinger-cherry that night. So readers, please be forewarned. I can pin-point the exact hosts that misrepresented themselves as the newest members of the Wall of Shame, but if you want the exact club you'll have to talk to me at a party. I don't make a habit of reviewing these NYC clubs and parties any longer because, as you have no doubt read before, the operators of these venues are very bad people and their parties always suck. Among other things, there are connections to organized crime. Over the past three years of running the School of Sex, Behind Closed Doors and XXXtreme Events, I have been threatened, followed, and otherwise harassed by these people. Luckily, my parties are clean as a whistle. All SoS revenue is reported accurately, no drugs are allowed at our parties, and we always make sure that our locations are not affiliated with bad people.

So, the swing scene in NYC and all the respective parties and clubs, particularly the one that held itself out to be affiliated with me, are hereby inducted into Wall of Shame for this month. It is no surprise that the hottest and most popular real, swingers parties in NYC -- Behind Closed Doors and XXXtreme Events would be imitated, but never recreated!

The Red Rooster in Las Vegas

In a city that is referred to as "The City of Sin," there is a need for a fabulous swing club for both locals and tourists alike. But just like New York City, there is no hot, sexy club for couples and singles to go dance, flirt and most importantly, TO FUCK AT!

So what doesn't Las Vegas have when compared to NYC? Well, unlike the so-called swingers clubs in NYC, in a city filled with escorts, Las Vegas did not appear to have fake couples (i.e., one John and a woman-of-the-night accompanying him). Therefore, you don't have to fear the "my prostitute for your wife" trick. What does Las Vegas have? It is home to "the world's most well known swing club....in Las Vegas" as the sign next to the bar at the Red Rooster boasts.

Whenever you ask anyone for advice on the so-called infamous Red Rooster swing club, they either tell you that it's the most aweful or most awesome place. Therefore, I decided to visit the club and report back to the Swing in the City readers.

If you are a tourist visiting Las Vegas, you need to keep in mind that this swing club, which is actually the owners' house, is not very close to the tourist area by the Las Vegas Strip. It is quite a drive out and is only accessible by car. If you decide to take a cab out to the club, you will have to ask the owner to call a cab back for you when you leave and there is a surcharge for the driver to venture out to the distant, residential area to come pick you up. This also makes it difficult for couples that may want to leave the club as soon as they step in it (which I'm sure is quite common!) -- you're trapped.

If you decide to drive out by yourself, keep the precise address on hand. If you use a GPS, you will pass a bright sign on the side of a storage facility that states "Red Rooster." Do not waste your time driving around the facility like Rocco and I did wondering whether they turned the storage units into a club. They didn't. It isn't NYC's meat-packing district.

As you approach the Red Rooster, you will notice a bright, red light eminating from an isolated house. As you drive closer, you will notice tacky, multi-colored Christmas lights leading you to a house with a driveway. Do not park on the street. Pull into the drive-way. The parking lot has rooms for about a 100 cars.

You will see a parking attendent/security guard sitting inside a booth. Directly across from him is the enterance to the house. Go past the sign that states "Beware, Dogs" and open front door. You will be greeted by an older gentleman who will ask you for the fee. Upon entering, you will see a bar in front of you where you can drop off your liquor. The swing club, much like many others in the U.S., is B.Y.O.B. You will see a sign stating that prostitution is illegal and another on top of a bar that says "We do not sell ANYTHING so do not ask us." Some patrons of NYC's so-called swinger parties will be upset to see that you can't buy hookers, pot, E, heroine or other drugs off the bartender and working staff. Too bad for them.

Now, for the rest of us that go to swing parties to fuck, I will provide a detailed outlook of my two-night experience.  Our first visit was on a Friday evening around 11:00PM. Rocco and I walked in to pretty packed house. The other guests varied in age. We were easily the best dressed of anyone there (especially Rocco, as practically every other guy there was wearing washed out jeans and a t-shirt) There were many red-necks that drove in from the nearby trailer parks and a few tourists mixed in. However, most of the people that stayed at the club were in-fact locals. Apparently, the local couples get a deal -- $30 for both Friday and Saturday nights as long as they ask the man at the door for a "pass."

Upstairs was a couples-only area.  That meant no single males OR single females. No exceptions. There were plastic chairs placed all around the couples-only area.

We looked around the upstairs couples area; these couples were an eclectic bunch. There was one frisky couple giving each other oral sex and about 5 others were just watching. We noticed as a much older couple made their way up the narrow stairwell. The woman could barely walk as she was very drunk. Her husband was trying to hold her up and help her up the steps. Even without shoes on, she barely made it. If there was a Swing School at the Rooster (there isn't, as the concept of a REAL couple in the lifestyle advising other couples in an orientation does not exist at ANY other party or club), I would've advised these noticed (1) that I wouldn't recommend walking around bare-foot and (2) I also wouldn't recommend getting your date piss drunk in order to fuck her. The dance floor was roudy with locals singing and dancing along. The scene reminded me of an old saloon out of a Western! There was a lot of cigarette smoke as you could smoke inside. There were red lights by the bar and a dozen rooster statues placed on a shelf. Rocco and I tried to walk around to see the other play areas. This was perhaps the most challenging part of the evening thus far. Finding the rooms was very difficult. Plus, they had some sort of system of reserving private rooms by approaching the attendees outside the areas. It was all very confusing. We noticed a locker area to put your personal items. "No locks provided. There ARE theives among us, please lock your belongings." Fantastic.

Although the lockers are on one side of the house and that means you would have to walk around nude to get to the other areas. I guess you should bring your own towels as well. Also, you must bring your own condoms. Perhaps you should bring your own clean sheets too because I did not see anyone walking around changing them. I know that the staff were all volunteers working for free and trying to better the swing community but can't they provide some bare essentials?? I mean, the "club" DOES charge a fee for admission!

We moved on to the front of the club where pictures of some porn stars who had visited the club (such as Ron Jeremy) were hung. There were some porno magazines on the shelves. I hadn't seen so many magazines in a swingers club before. It was rather raunchy, but not in a good way. As we were looking around, we heard "Rocco, Sex Kitten!" We were surrounded by so many people that the security had to step in (which was nice of him) to ward people off. It was nice of him to do my job because usually I have to politely tell people to back off. But I realized the volunteer security job came with a perk--front row seats to a hot three-girl-on-two-guys show. I wanted to like the Red Rooster because I know the owners fought so hard to have the right to keep the club open in Las Vegas. They were trying to cater to the real and true swingers. Maybe some more areas for couples and invited single men in the downstairs area may help -- but that might mean adding an extension onto the house. I would not recommend this place to beginners at all because it can scare a curious couple to the point that you'd never want to go to another swinger club. I would also not recommend that the ladies dress up too much or draw too much attention to themselves -- you WILL be stalked. Jeans (not skinny or form-fitted jeans) with a loose-fitting top will suffice. But, if you are an experienced swinger looking for some alternative, adult fun in Las Vegas, you may get lucky here and meet a couple. Yes, you will see people that look like extras from The Hills Have Eyes but maybe you will find someone compatible. Or maybe, you can meet someone after messaging them online at a swinger site like Kasidie and then at least have a chance of having some fun.

And don't be scared to get snappy with the single guys and put them in their place. I certainly wasn't.

Even if the swing club itself is opulent, alluring, and grand, there is always a problem -- the guests. In order to finance such an operation, these clubs need to let everyone in. That's also the reason many clubs operate "single guy" nights where single males are allowed in, to help the bottom line.

But when you open a club to everyone, there are issues. Despite lovely decor of a top swing club, it's never sexy to see people old enough to be your parents -- or grandparents in many cases! The sad truth is that the overwhelming majority of swingers are old, extremely out of shape, and don't take care of themselves. The older men are typically the ones who are the worst, even if they bring some eye candy to the club with them. So, if you decide to check out a swing club, a swinger resort, or anything of the sort, be prepared to see people that you will probably find very unattractive.

Then there's BCD. We ONLY invite hot, young couples and single women. The age range of our guests is 21 to 45 (and those who are 40+ must be exceedingly hot). BOTH the male and the female of a couple must be attractive. XXXtreme Events are also very selective -- but in a different way. XXXtreme parties are open to extremely handsome single men. Single men are 21 to 40, attractive and complete gentlemen. We were greeted at the door and walked to the reception area to pay the entrance and membership fees.

When we walked into the club, it was already pretty packed. Being that it was their opening night, there were rumors that the owners went to regular, Vanilla clubs and invited couples to come party (dance?) at their swing club. Keep in mind that Quebecois are generally quite liberal and open-minded, especially compared to the generally prude Americans. However, it is still never a good idea to mix Vanillas with swingers, especially at an on-premise party. But, Shlmo, just like every other club and party in the world besides Behind Closed Doors and XXXtreme Parties, does NOT reject couples. The same way a restaurant hopes to book all their tables for an evening and pack the house, swinger clubs hope to pack the house with anyone and everyone--as long as they pay their dues.

Despite the fact that the crowd was a generally older and a more "traditional" swinger crowd, the best having had face-lifts, breast-lifts, tummy-tucks and the worst being old and tired looking, there were a few couples in our age group. We started out on the dance floor. The dance and lounge area was well-planned and executed very well. Beautiful ambiance, lots of room to dance and mingle. If I was a Vanilla, I would have been perfectly satisfied with the topless dancers, the bar areas, the caged platforms and stage area. But, since I'm not a Vanilla, it takes a little more to impress me...

We walked around to the back area of the "off-premise" dance part of the club to find that some of the club was still under construction. In fact, the theme of the evening should have been "the unfinished swinger club," as it truly was.

As nice as the place was, the half-assed effort and c'est la vie attitude of the staff really put a sour feeling in my mouth. But, let's get to the "meat" of the story--the play areas.

To get into the back area, you had to pay extra. Yes, the "on-premise" area was an up-sell. We had pre-paid for our passes to the back and received golden wristbands signifying that we had upgraded tickets, so we went through the back you had to pass through an entrance area where you were handed towels and a locker number. The back area was called "Shlomo's Penthouse," even though it was not a Penthouse (it pays homage to the Wicked in Montreal, where the play area IS the top floor). A totally separate play area was actually a good way to separate the crowd -- off-premise for couples who only want to dance and mingle, and on-premise for the more hard-core crowd.

Just like any other large swing club, people were required to change into towels before entering the on-premise play area. We were excited. Unfortunately, because it was opening night the staff did not know how to handle the long line of couples trying to get into the play areas. It took us about 20 minutes to get back there. As soon as we did, Hera, Apollo, Rocco and I stripped down and changed into towels. But, again in half-assed fashion, the club was incomplete and opened prematurely -- the new coating on the wood floors had not yet dried! Hera and I put on our heels and kept them on the whole night. Unfortunately, Apollo and Rocco had to walk around bare-foot, resulting in a red coating on their feet that wouldn't completely wash off for days! The club left its mark, literally. (The next day, we tried to peek at people's feet in the street to see if they shared our dirty little secret.)

Not only were the floors problematic, but the bathrooms were a mess. I noticed the toilets installed were residential grade, not commercial. I knew this was going to be a problem as someone who has literally run hundreds of events, and as predicted, at the end of the night, we found all but one of toilets overflowing -- ewwww!

But, it wasn't all bad. The play area was quite amazing. It was easily one of the largest and most creative on-premise play areas I had ever seen. Sometimes, people ask me if they should start their own party. "After all, isn't it a great way to make money?" Sometimes I have to contain my laughter. I have the luxury of doing that since I have a real career, which most others who get involved in this business do not.

As I began to read the feature, I gasped at the first paragraph:

club CasBar was busted on more than “150 incidents of prohibited sexual activity,” including anal sex and fellatio. “The lifestyle is targeted by law enforcement, and you hear about clubs and parties being shut down everyday,” says Redd, a local event promoter who asked that his organization not to be named. “Adults should have the choice to participate in whatever they feel comfortable doing in life.”

This is perhaps the most ignorant, unfounded comment I have ever read. Casbar was shut down as a result of violating of New York Sanitary Code §24-2.2. As I discuss in my article on The Legality of Sex Clubs in NYC, the Code states that "No establishment shall make facilities available for the purpose of sexual activities where anal intercourse, vaginal intercourse or fellatio take place." The Code is typically used to go after homosexual venues, and was enacted to curb the AIDS epidemic.

Casbar was located on the premises of a previously homosexual club. So, eyes were already on the club. The NY Times piece probably pushed it over the edge. Clubs generally remain under the radar so as to avoid problems with the Health Department. For example, Le Trapeze and Checkmate have operated for 30 and 15 years, respectfully, without any problems.

Upon shutting Casbar, no arrests or raids were made. All of Casbar's patrons were safe. It was the health department that went after Casbar, NOT the police. It was a simple matter of padlocking the club to shut it down. And, no, there aren't clubs and parties being shut down every day. The Code has only been used to shut down Casbar and Plato's Retreat back in the 1980s! No one is EVER arrested in NYC for participating in a lifestyle event, an orgy, or anything related. What happens behind closed doors is YOUR business! The ONLY reason that law enforcement would get involved is if you (or management) choose to participate in illegal activities such as drug use or prostitution, or frequent a club or party where such illegal activities take place. Behind Closed Doors has a zero tolerance policy for these and any other illegal activities.
